Glossary

Plain-language definitions for the terms you'll see across SocialLens AI and modern social strategy.

    Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)

A structured description of the buyer who gets the most value from your product, used to focus content, sales, and product decisions.

    Value Proposition

One sentence that names the primary outcome you deliver, the unique advantage you bring, and the main objection you overcome.

    Voice Profile

A captured set of tone, sentence style, vocabulary level, signature phrases, and persuasion style that lets AI tools write in your voice.

    Hook

The first line, frame, or seconds of a piece of content, the part responsible for stopping the scroll and earning the next read.

    Content Pillar

A recurring theme tied to your value proposition that organizes what you publish week to week.

    Carousel

A multi-slide post format on Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok used for storytelling, frameworks, and saves-driven content.

    Engagement Rate

Total interactions divided by reach (or followers). The platform's primary signal for whether content deserves more distribution.

    Reach

The number of unique accounts that saw a piece of content, distinct from impressions, which count repeat views.

    Positioning

The single category and angle you want to own in a buyer's mind.

    AI Content Strategist

An AI system that uses your ICP, value prop, and voice profile to generate, score, and refine social content.

    Social Media Pipeline

The end-to-end flow from idea capture, through generation and approval, to scheduling and publishing.

    Thought Leadership

Content that advances a clear POV in your category, intended to compound trust over time rather than drive immediate clicks.

    Content Calendar

A scheduled view of upcoming posts across channels, tied to pillars, campaigns, and launch dates so output stays intentional, not reactive.

    Call to Action (CTA)

The explicit next step a post asks the reader to take, comment, save, click, reply, sign up, chosen to match the post's stage in the buyer journey.

    Social Listening

Tracking conversations, mentions, and sentiment across social platforms to inform content, product, and positioning decisions.

    User-Generated Content (UGC)

Content created by customers, fans, or community members, not the brand, used to build social proof and reduce production cost.

    Content Repurposing

Transforming one piece of source content into multiple formats and platforms to extend reach without doubling production effort.

    Brand Voice

The consistent tone, vocabulary, and POV a brand uses across channels, the thing that makes a post recognizable without seeing the handle.

    Engagement Bait

Posts engineered for shallow reactions ('comment YES if you agree') that platforms increasingly downrank because they don't reflect genuine intent.
